Here's a pleasant bit of news to see the weekend in with: It Takes Two has already sold more than one million copies after less than a month on the market. Confirmed with a tweet from developer Hazelight Studios, the co-op only game has proven popular with both veteran gamers and newcomers. The studio said: "Just found out It Takes Two has sold over 1 million copies and is still going strong! Thank you so much for all the love you’ve shown our game, it means the world to us."
Famous creator Josef Fares then elaborated: "This shows that there definitely is players that also wants to play co op only games! Thank you everyone and I hope we see more game like this." As part of an interview we recently conducted with the man himself, he said: "To be honest, I'm not that surprised [about the good reception], because I always have a strong belief in what we do. If you ask me about our next game, I can tell you now, it will be even better than It Takes Two. It's gonna be so crazy. That's how sure I am, like the concept, what's gonna happen, and people will be blown away." It certainly sounds like he's getting the chance to make another one of those games he refers to.
We were one of the outlets contributing to that good reception, awarding an 8/10 in the It Takes Two PS5 review. "While it stumbles on certain narrative aspects and not all the performances are winners, it more than makes up for that with its brilliantly fun and ever-changing gameplay. Forcing two players to work in tandem in countless ways, the game embraces co-op play wholeheartedly, and the variety of gameplay and environments makes it a joy to play from start to finish."

Hopefully a good sign for local co-op. I really would like to see more games I can play sitting in front of the TV with my brother. There used to be a bunch of licensed games that weren’t too bad on PS2 which all had decent co-op support.
Amazing game
Awesome. Hazelight doing some excellent work the past few years
Love to see things going well for this guy. His games are awesome and his personality's one of a kind.
Brilliant game. The wife and I haven’t really got into Sackboy, but this wonder we finished over a weekend. I recommend everyone who likes couch co-op gets this.
Well deserved, congrats to the team. Hope this inspires more co-op games, there's been a drought in the genre for a while.
Didn't buy it just yet (because I first need to get another DualSense) but I sure will.
If only they waited 2 more days to announce this......cause effff the Oscars.
Fantastic news. LOVE this game! Co-op is so much fun - and top of having a Friend Pass
Hope one of many to come.
It’s one of the best games I’ve ever played.
Only played the demo but it was great 👍
This is what happens when you let people with true passion craft a game. I certainly hope he keeps helping to create better and better games. Hopefully the studio hasn't gotten the poisonous taste of success.
A masterpiece that deserves every dollar it makes.
A truly amazing game, deserved even 70 euros instead of 40. What a great experience!
That makes me so happy. Joseph is king
My two sons have been playing this non-stop, and have let me join in too! It is a brilliant, beautiful, original game. Yes to more games like this.
Amazing. I hope there are more couch co-op games in the future. Games have been focusing too much on single player stories lately
But does this show people want CO-OP games or want Josef's games. I think its the latter at this point. But he's on a 3-0 winning streak. Need to play this one still.
Really terrific stuff. I've got 8 kids so at any given time only 2 of us can play, but it's really fun even just to watch, which is rare, IMO.
Fantastic game! My brother gifted this game for my little girl, saying it was a great co op game. It has been so far! Love everything about it!
My wife and I loved it. Amazing game
